AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Affordable housing accounts for 30-40% of our workload. Working with the developer or Design and Build contractor, we apply our expertise to ensure that detailed designs comply with the specific requirements of the affordable housing provider, the Housing Corporation’s Design and Quality Standards and Housing Quality Indicators as necessary.

On larger schemes the affordable element will normally include a small number of properties designed to be fully suitable for wheelchair users. We apply our understanding of the Wheelchair Housing Design Guide to produce detailed designs which maximise the future occupier’s independence to ensure that their needs are fully satisfied.

This process will often include the requirement to re-design the internal layouts of the approved plans to ensure compliance with the respective standards.
